CliqDesk vs Jira Service Management

Atlassian renamed Jira Service Desk to Jira Service Management in 2020; it now ships inside a bundle called Service Collection. This page compares the two on four things a support team does every day.

What each one costs

Jira Service Management is priced per agent. CliqDesk is a flat monthly fee whatever the size of your team. Atlassian is free for up to 3 agents; we charge from the first one.

Agents Jira Service Management CliqDesk
Up to 3 $0 · Free plan $29
4 $80 · Standard plan $29 · 3× cheaper
10 $200 · Standard plan $29 · 7× cheaper
25 $500 · Standard plan $29 · 17× cheaper

Atlassian also sells Premium at $51.42 per agent per month, and an Enterprise plan billed annually. CliqDesk is one price with unlimited agents; extra portals are charged separately.

What actually differs

Four things a support team does every day. Jira Service Management does far more than this. Assets, on-call and incident management are not compared here.

Request forms

Jira Service Management
Atlassian's Free plan includes "Work intake through customizable forms, workflows, and queues".
CliqDesk
Each desk has its own fields, defined by you. A requestor answers them before the ticket exists, so your team gets what it needs up front rather than asking for it afterwards.

Both have forms. Ours are defined per desk, and answered before the ticket exists.

Customer ticket tracking

Jira Service Management
Atlassian's Free plan includes "Multi-channel support, including customer portal, email, and chat". A custom-branded help center on your own URL is a Standard-tier feature.
CliqDesk
Your customers get a branded portal at your own address, on every plan. They see their tickets and the replies, and nothing else.

Both have a portal. Putting it on your own domain costs Standard at Atlassian.

Email replies

Jira Service Management
Email is one of Atlassian's intake channels on the Free plan, and Standard adds "unlimited email notifications".
CliqDesk
A customer replies to the notification email and it lands on the ticket. An agent comments on the ClickUp task and the customer gets it as email. Neither of them has to log in to answer.

Both thread email. Ours is built around the customer never needing an account.

Working inside ClickUp

Jira Service Management
Jira Service Management is Atlassian's own workspace. Your agents work there.
CliqDesk
Tickets become ClickUp tasks. Your team works them in ClickUp with everything else they already track.

This one is not about features. It is about where your team already works.

Which one you want

Stay on Jira Service Management if

  • You have 3 agents or fewer. Atlassian is free at that size and we charge from the first one.
  • Your team already works in Jira and moving them to ClickUp is not on the table.
  • You need asset management, on-call schedules or incident response. We do not have those.

Come to CliqDesk if

  • Your team already works in ClickUp and you do not want a second workspace for support.
  • You have more than 3 agents and a per-agent bill is the thing that keeps growing.
  • You want a branded portal on your own address without moving up a plan for it.
